The Navajo Nation’s tourism development initiatives focus on helping Navajo communities and businesses utilize tourism as a tool to improve the local and regional economy while protecting or improving the quality of life for Navajo residents. We can offer you a variety of services and tourism development studies to support your tourism-related endeavors.

Technical Assistance

We will provide technical assistance for new or existing businesses in the following areas:

We provide the following technical assistance and consultation for large
private, public, or commercial establishments as you develop your business
plan and operations:

These special programs must comply with federal and state public highway guidelines and can qualify for scenic, historic, recreational, or cultural route designation. These special programs may include the following:

Interpretive Centers
Scenic Byway Designation
Roadside Enhancement


Community-based Tourism Development
If your local community is interested in developing an economic base using tourism, we can guide you through a three-year planning process to build a viable tourism industry. Your community will need to pre-qualify for the program. The program offers the following:

Organizational and leadership development
Identifying funding sources and applying for grants
Tourism assessment and resident attitude survey
Product and service development (24+ months)
Marketing
