Business
site leasing includes an environmental review of proposed businesses
before a business site lease can be granted. The
environmental review is the responsibility of the Environmental
Reviewer and the Archaeologist. The environmental review
involves
a determination of compliance with the Navajo Nation Fish and Wildlife
Service, Navajo Nation Environmental Protection Agency and applicable
cultural resources regulations. Click here for more
information
about the environmental review process and click here for
information
specific to the archaeology function of the Real Estate Department.
During
the course of negotiation with perspective businesses for business site
leases on the Navajo Nation, a rental is negotiated between the
Navajo Nation and the prospective business. Since the
implementation of the Navajo Nation business site leasing regulations,
rental rates are reviewed and approved by the staff appraiser at the
Real Estate Department. Click here to learn more
about the
appraisal function of the department.
It is important for
business site surveys within the Navajo Nation conform to standards and
procedures for best practice. A proper survey will ensure the
correct recording and management of land tracts within the Navajo
Nation. The real estate department has a GIS technician who
reviews land surveys of prospective business sites. Click
