Business Site Lease Compliance

The Real Estate Department implements the Navajo Nation Business Site Leasing Regulations of 2005, assuming the authorities of the Bureau of Indian Affairs on management and enforcement of business site leases. Subchapter 500 of these regulations gives the Real Estate the powers necessary to enforce lease terms, laws, ordinances, regulations, rules, policies, and covenants and its regulations are a part of the Division of Economic Development's Navajo Management Plan (for business site leasing).

Compliance

The compliance officer works with the Division of Economic Development and other managing entities to ensure businesses comply with their business site lease terms and conditions and applicable laws and regulations of the Navajo Nation. Our compliance staff work only with new leases since 2008. Older leases are still managed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs unless the business site lease has been novated to the Navajo Nation regulations.
