Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

The Real Estate Department is implements the Navajo Nation Business Site Leasing Regulations of 2005, assuming the authorities of the Bureau of Indian Affairs on management and enforcement of business site leases. Subsection 302 of these regulations requires business site leases contain adequate site surveys and legal descriptions.

RED Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

The GIS technician works with the Division of Economic Development and other Managing entities to review land surveys of proposed business sites to ensure compliance with the Public Land Survey System (PLSS). American Land Title Association (ALTA) and the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM) standards are used to evaluate the accuracy of a legal land survey.
